Discover a fun way for preschoolers to learn the alphabet with an ABC Car Park. Turn learning into playtime and watch your child's excitement grow!

We've been working on letters with my preschooler and both of us were getting bored and frustrated with our old ways of learning. Half the time she'd say "I don't want to do it" or "I want you to say it." It was not going well. This child of mine is a very independent, hard headed child. You want her to do something, it's not going to happen. She cooperates better if it was her idea, or at least if she thinks it was her idea. I decided we needed a new approach to learning that was not only fun but she could go at her own pace and play.

I loved this idea of an ABC Car Park. She was seeing, matching and learning letters and didn't even realize it! She just thought she was playing with her toy cars and had so much fun. Learning through play really is the best approach with preschoolers!

For our ABC Car Park we went big and did the entire alphabet. You could easily just do a few letters, spell your child's name, or match upper case to lower case letters. This activity can be easily tailored to your child's abilities and attention span.

How to make your own ABC Car Park:

You'll need:

• Painters tape or masking tape

• Dot stickers

• Pen or marker

• Toy cars

Set it up:

• Use the tape to create a road and parking spots on the floor.

• On the dot stickers use a pen or marker to write letters on each sticker. You will need two stickers per letter.

• Place one sticker in each parking spot and the other sticker on a toy car.

• Place all toy cars at the end of the road on the opposite side of the parking lot.

• Have your child drive each car and park it in the spot with the corresponding letter.

• Don't forget your "vroom" noises as they drive each car and announce each letter when they park it in the correct spot!
