Simply Extra

Looking for a fun, hands-on activity for kids? Learn how to make fluffy slime with this easy DIY recipe. Create hours of squishy, fluffy fun!

This simple slime recipe creates a fluffy, squishy slime that kids love to play with. Stretch it, roll it or cut it into shapes for hours of fun. My daughter and I had just as much making this slime together as we do playing with it.
To make fluffy slime you will need:
PVA school glue, white or clear
Saline solution
Baking Soda
Foam shaving cream
Food coloring
For this recipe we use a saline solution instead of Borax as the activator. Just be sure your saline solution contains sodium borate or boric acid. These two ingredients are what interacts with the PVA in the glue to form the slime. We bought the equate brand, which has both of these ingredients. What gives this slime a fluffy texture? Shaving foam! As the shaving foam comes out of the can, air is pushed into the liquid creating a foam. The air is what gives this slime its fluff. We made our slime green for St. Patricks Day but feel free to make it whatever color you choose.

Fluffy Slime
Ingredients:
3 heaping cups Foaming Shaving Cream
1/2 cup Washable PVA school glue (clear or white)
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 Tbsp Saline solution (must contain both sodium borate and boric acid as ingredients)
Food coloring
Directions:
Measure 3 cups foaming shaving cream into a bowl.
Add in 5-6 drops food coloring and mix.
Add in glue and mix.
Add baking soda and mix.
Add 1 Tbsp saline solution and mix well. As you mix, the substance should become less sticky. If it's still sticky add more saline solution a drop or two at a time. It will get less sticky as you knead and play with it as well. Do not add too much saline or it will get a rubbery consistency that's hard to play with.
Tip: add a bit of saline solution to your hands before removing it from the bowl. It will keep the slime from sticking to you and incorporate it in to the slime to create a fluffy texture.
