Let your kids make their own firework artwork using only 2 simple items you probably have at home! This Painting Fireworks Craft is an easy, inexpensive and fun way for your kids to celebrate Memorial Day, Independence Day, New Years Eve or any day just because they love fireworks!

Painting Fireworks Craft

Start collecting those toilet paper or paper towel rolls. They are the best repurposed item for all kinds of crafts. Today we used them to paint fireworks! This activity was so easy and fun! I let my kids pick their favorite colors of washable tempera paint and create a fun firework display!

Painting Fireworks Craft

To prepare to paint fireworks, cut strips on one end of your toilet paper roll about 1- 1.5 inches up. Vary each one in length of cuts for different sized fireworks. Press cut end into your hand or on a hard surface to flare cut strips outwards as shown in photo above.

Pour washable tempera paint onto a paper plate and dip paper roll into paint coating each cut strip well. Press onto a blank piece of paper like a stamp. Repeat with varying colors to create your firework art work. The more fireworks you add the prettier your display!
