Perfect for your next dinner party, picnic, backyard barbecue or any summer gathering. Use strawberries and blueberries for a fun red, white and blue theme great for Memorial Day or 4th of a July.



This Angel Food Cake Berry Trifle is easy to make and comes together in under 10 minutes. Let's take a look at each layer of deliciousness.


  • Cake- I used a pre-made store bought angel food cake to save time. You could always make your own, just be sure to allow it to cool completely before assembling. Pound cake or short cake would also be delicious in this recipe.

  • Pudding- For the yummy creamy pudding layer you will prepare a 3 oz box of vanilla pudding according to package directions. Make this first and place in the refrigerator so it has time to set up a bit. While your pudding is chilling use an electric mixer to beat 8 oz of softened cream cheese until smooth. Add in powdered sugar and vanilla extract and continue to mix. You will then add in your pudding and beat for 2 minutes until smooth and creamy. Use a spoon or spatula to fold in half of the whipped topping.

  • Berries- For my recipe I used a combination of strawberries and blueberries. You can use only one or add in blackberries, raspberries or banana slices

Angel Food Cake Berry Trifle

 

Ingredients:

  • 1 angel food cake (pre-baked and cooled or store bought)

  • 3 oz box vanilla pudding, prepared according to package directions

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 cup powdered sugar

  • 16 oz whipped topping, divided

  • 4 cups fresh strawberries, sliced

  • 2 cups fresh blueberries


Instructions:

  • In a large bowl make vanilla pudding per package directions. Place in refrigerator until ready to use.

  • Cut angel food cake into cubes, set aside.

  • In another bowl beat softened cream cheese with an electric mixer on medium speed until smooth. Add in vanilla extract and powdered sugar. Continue to mix until well combined. Add vanilla pudding and mix on medium speed for 2 minutes. Fold in half of whipped topping. Set aside.

  • To the bottom of a large glass bowl or trifle bowl add 1/3 of the angel food cake cubes. Top with 1/3 pudding mixture spreading to the edges to cover cake pieces. Top with approximately 1/2 cup blueberries and 1 cup strawberries. Add another layer of cake, followed by pudding and berries. Add final layer of cake topped with pudding and berries. Top with remaining whipped topping and fresh berries.

  • Serve immediately or refrigerate for up to 8 hours before serving.
