Say goodbye to dry, flaky lips with this easy DIY brown sugar lip scrub for soft lips. Learn how to make it and keep your lips looking and feeling beautiful!

Ever put your lip gloss on hoping to help with your dry lips but all you see is little pieces of skin flaking off? Yea, no thanks! This happens to me all the time. Especially in the winter, my lips get so dry, cracking and sometimes sore to the point I'm avoiding spicy foods (not really, I just suffer in pain). Not to mention it's really messing up showing off my new lip gloss. What if I told you there was an easy way to fix and prevent that problem? Lip scrub will remove dead dry skin with its exfoliating properties. Removing these dead cells from your lips will bring out fresh new layers, making lips soft and smooth. It also has moisturizing properties that will help prevent the skin from drying. Pair with our Peppermint Lip Balm for perfectly kissable lips.

I found these cute little jars here and made labels for the tops. Combine with DIY Peppermint Lip Balm and you have an excellent and thoughtful gift anyone would love.

Lets take a look at the ingredients and the benefits of each:

Brown sugar is a natural exfoliant helping to clear away dry and dead skin cells. This helps to create smoother, softer lips. It is also known as a natural humectant that draw moisture from the surroundings and sends it to the skin surface. The molasses in brown sugar serves as a skin softening and moisturizing agent.

Jojoba oil is an excellent natural remedy for dry and chapped lips. It has anti-inflammatory properties, which can help soothe and heal dry lips. The Vitamin E and B-complex vitamins help in skin repair and damage control.

Lavender is one of the best essential oils when it comes to healing skin conditions. It has anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, anti-microbial and detoxifying benefits which acts as a powerful skin regenerator, quickly healing dry, cracked lips. It can reduce redness, sooth and calm the skin and rapidly heal minor cuts.

Dry, cracked and sore lips no more! This DIY lip scrub is easy to make and will keep your lips looking beautiful and pain free.

Brown Sugar Lip Scrub

Ingredients:

1/4 cup brown sugar

2 Tbsp jojoba oil

4 drops lavender essential oil

Directions:

To a bowl add sugar, jojoba oil and lavender. Mix well until combined.

Store in an airtight container.

How to Apply:

Take a small amount on fingers and apply to lips. Rub it on lips for 2-3 minutes. Rinse with warm water or wipe clean with a damp rag.

Notes:

  • This homemade scrub should last about 3-4 months, however, this will vary depending on how well it is stored and the environment.

  • It's important not to overdo exfoliation. Once a week is enough. If you have extremely dry lips due to it being the winter season, you can scrub your lips twice per week.

  • Please keep in mind that sugar scrubs can be too abrasive for sensitive skin. If you see that once per week is damaging your lips, exfoliate every 15 days.

  • Always apply moisturizer, like my DIY peppermint lip balm, after exfoliation and keep your lips moisturized throughout the day.
